Nancy Lynn Poteat passed away peacefully on January 25, 2025, at the age of 75 in O'Fallon, MO. Born on March 4, 1949, in St. Louis, MO, daughter of Eugene and Helen Poteat.
Nancy is survived by her life partner of 50 years, Ronald David Clark. Nancy's legacy continues through her five children: Clare (Scott) Woodman of ME, Edward (Pam) Breneisen of PA, Amy (Craig) Pealer of PA, Kim Breneisen of MO, and Matt Breneisen of Saint Petersburg, FL. Her warmth and wisdom will live on in the hearts of her 12 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren, who will miss her deeply.
She was the cherished sister to four siblings, Rory (Tom) Healy of St. Charles, MO, Patty (Bob) Brejcha of Tulsa, OK, Maureen Avouris of St. Louis, MO, and Margaret Gleason of Licking, MO. And aunt to numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Ernest Eugene Poteat, her mother, Helen (Erdelen) Poteat, and her daughter-in-law, Samantha Breneisen.
A woman of faith, Nancy was a devoted member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Wentzville, MO. Nancy's educational pursuits led her to earn an Associate Degree in Psychology. Her career was marked by years of dedicated service as a janitor at Wentzville High School. Prior to her retirement, Nancy worked for the State of Missouri for 20 years, where her hard work and commitment were evident to all who worked with her.
She cherished the simple pleasures of life, such as spending time at home and keeping in touch with friends and family through multiple daily phone calls. An avid reader, she could often be found with a newspaper in hand. Nancy's great sense of humor was one of her most defining traits, bringing joy and laughter to those around her.
