Nell Towns Humphries passed away on Tuesday, March 21, 2023 at the age of 95.
She is survived by her husband George McGowin Humphries, II, two sons, George "Mac" Humphries, III and Henry Towns Humphries; daughter, Leigh Ann Yeager; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; She is preceded in death by her parents, brother, Milton John Towns, sisters, Geraldine Forbus and Martha Sprayberry, son, David Bruce Humphries.
Nell was born January 22, 1928 in Kellyton, Alabama; daughter of the late Ennis Towns and Myrtle Leigh Towns. She lived in Nashville, TN for 10 years, Creve Coeur, MO for 20 years, and later in Lake St. Louis, MO for 38 years. Nell was a member of First Baptist Church of Lake St. Louis, MO for many years where she played the piano. She was a very talented musician, known as the best hymn piano player of the Southern Baptist Convention, a member of Missouri Baptist Womens Music Ministry, and a 1950 graduate of Judson College, Marion, AL with a degree in Music and a lifetime member of Garden Du Lac Garden Club in Lake St. Louis. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother who will be missed by her family and many extended friends.
