Onieta Schulze Obituary

Onieta Sophia Schulze passed from this life at the Villages of St Peters to her heavenly home on February 12, 2021 at the age of 99.  Onieta was born in Marthasville, Mo on January 21, 1922. She was baptized and confirmed at Marthasville St. Paul’s U.C.C. and graduated from Marthasville High School in 1938.

Onieta began her teaching career in south Warren County.  She taught at Maple Dale and Forest Grove, one room schoolhouses in the Marthasville area.  She also taught at a third one room schoolhouse, Lakeview at Orchard Farm in St. Charles County for 2 years.  She returned to Marthasville and taught first second and third grades in one classroom.   Onieta furthered her education by obtaining her Bachelor of Education degree by attending school for ten summers, graduating from the University of Missouri in Columbia in 1949.

She raised her family and continued her career teaching in the Warren County R-III school district from 1950-1952, as a 4th grade teacher and again in 1965-1982, teaching 1st grade for eighteen years.

She married the love of her life Wilbert Schulze on August 16, 1950, and they resided on a farm together in north Warren County for 50 years of married life until he preceded her in death on October 3, 2000.

She was an active member of the College United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women, until her health failed. She was a charter member of the Warren County Artisan Guild; a leader for Camp Branch 4-H Club and Warren Co 4-H for years; and active in the Missouri Retired Teachers Association.  Her hobbies included quilting, crafts and sewing.  Onieta’s life was grounded in her faith, her love of family and community.  She lived a wonderful life of service and commitment and we will cherish her legacy and memory forever.

Leaving to cherish her memory are:

Her daughters, Carmen Schulze of Warrenton, MO; Lynette Collier (Phillip) of Columbia, MO and son Verlyn Schulze (Donna) of Warrenton, MO
