Orson “Blake” Hymas passed away peacefully on May 22, 2026, with his son Adrian and daughter Sheila by his side. Blake was born on November 11, 1950, in Montpelier, Idaho, to Jack and Erma Hymas.
Blake had a deep love for the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing in the beautiful regions of Oregon, Idaho, and Wyoming. He always wanted to return to the places where he grew up and hoped to one day live in the West again. Active in sports throughout his life, he proudly played college football at Eastern Oregon University. He was also involved in the Boy Scouts of America program, where he developed many lifelong values and friendships.
A devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Blake served a two-year mission in Mexico City and the surrounding areas. During his time there, he embraced the culture and people, taking great pride in learning and speaking the language. While in Mexico, he met his future wife, Dolores, and following the completion of his mission, they were married in the Salt Lake City Temple.
Family meant everything to him. Although he was sometimes physically limited in being present as much as he would have liked, he cherished his grandchildren and loved them immensely. He was considered the patriarch of his family on this side of the border and remained deeply loved by his former wife’s family in Mexico as well.
Blake never met a stranger. He had a gift for making others feel welcome. Even among work colleagues from around the world and despite language barriers, he had a special ability to help everyone feel included wherever he went.
He is survived by his son, Adrian (Kelly) Hymas; daughter, Sheila Mahoney; sister, Carolyn (Dennis) McCullough; grandchildren, Braden Jack Hymas, Noah Alexander Hymas, and Gabriella Blakely Mahoney; and former wife, Dolores Hymas.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
The family is being served by Pitman Funeral Home in Wentzville.
