Phyllis Gronewald (nee: Martin) passed away on February 28, 2025 at the age of 90. She was the beloved wife of the late Kenneth Gronewald; She is survived by her two sons, Dale (Monica Foszcz) Gronewald of Winfield, MO, Eldon (Penni) Gronewald of Old Monroe, MO; sister, Jolene Austin of Ankeny, IA; nine grandchildren, Elaine, Kenny, Mickey, Tina, Jill, Kelly, Kari, Dane, and Cassie; fourteen great-grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her father, Edward Martin, mother, Thelma Martin (nee: Zerr), son, Eugene Gronewald, brother-in-law, Maurice Austin.
Phyllis was united in marriage to Kenneth on October 4, 1952. Their union was blessed with three wonderful children: Dale, Eugene, and Eldon. From 1952 to 1958, Phyllis and Kenneth lived on Ida's farm, where they laid the foundations for a loving family life. In 1958, they moved into their new home on three acres of the farm, creating cherished memories together. After many happy years on the farm, Phyllis made the heartfelt decision to relocate to Elsberry in 2024. Phyllis was a dedicated member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church and actively participated in the ladies Guild, where she formed lasting friendships within her community. Her love for reading and tending to her yard reflected her appreciation for life’s simple pleasures. A true homebody, Phyllis found joy in caring for her family and extended family. She had a special bond with her sister-in-law, Amy, and their heartfelt morning phone calls were treasures she cherished until her passing. Phyllis's nurturing spirit, kindness, and devotion will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
