Rachel was born on July 20, 1938, in St. Louis, Missouri, to Raymond and Zola Blue (Kennedy). She grew up in St. Louis, where she attended Maplewood Richmond Heights High School and proudly graduated with the Class of 1956. She continued her education at Southeast Missouri State College and the University of Missouri.
On February 6, 1960, Rachel married the love of her life, Donald Mrkacek. Together, they built a life rooted in devotion to family, hard work, and community. Their home was a place of warmth and welcome.
Rachel embraced life with joy and intention. She cherished time spent with her family, watching her children and grandchildren grow and celebrating milestones. She found happiness on the tennis court and golf course, and she delighted in spirited bridge games. After Don retired, they traveled a lot and especially enjoyed their overseas trips.
Rachel is survived by her husband, Don, with whom she shared 66 wonderful years. She leaves behind four children—Laura (John), Michael (Sandy), Kristine (Tony), and Shelley (Doug)—as well as four beloved grandchildren: Matthew, Samantha, Isabelle, and Ian. She is also survived by three great-grandchildren—Hayden, Rylan, and Max—along with in-laws Dee (Bob), Diane (Linda), Jean, and many nieces and a nephew.
She was preceded in death by her brother Bob, cousins Gary and Helga, sister-in-law Doris, and brother-in-law Ron.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or to a charity of your choice.
The Mrkacek family is being served by, Pitman Funeral Home in Wentzville.
