Rae Eloise Winfrey
April 23, 1930 - July 30, 2022
Rae Eloise Winfrey was born in Reynolds County, MO on April 23, 1930 to the late William Henry and Mamie Irene (Allison) Ellis, and passed away in her home in Wright City, MO surrounded by loved ones on July 30, at the age of 92 years.
Eloise was preceded in death by her husband Gene Winfrey, three sons Stan, Don, and Terry Winfrey. Two brothers; Archie and Harry Ellis. Six sisters; Maude Sheeley, Marie Bain, Dollie Rickmar, Louise Rickmar, Rose Chatman, and Lucy Love.
Eloise was survived by children Dave (Suzan) Winfrey, Bob Winfrey, Sherry (Rodger) Tucker, and Donna (Robert) Kelby. 20 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren, sister Betty Asel, dear friend Mary Sharp, Roxy the beloved dog, many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Eloise and Gene “Red” were united in marriage for over 60-years, and brought 7 children into this world. Eloise always declared the first time she saw him, her breath was taken away, and it was purely love at first sight. Eloise wore many hats during her working career from owning a restaurant, taking care of the sick as a certified nurse’s assistant, and later in life as an activity assistant with Alzheimer’s residents. Eloise had a great love of gardening, canning, sewing, working in her flower beds, finding the best deals at yard sales, and fishing. However, her greatest love above all else was spending time and doting on her family and friends. If you ever came over for a visit and left hungry, that was your own fault. You could often find her holding babies, and feeding the dogs table food. She was an amazing woman, who is dearly missed.
The family is taking visitors on Thursday, August 4 from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. with funeral services on Friday, August 5 at 10 a.m. at Pitman Funeral Home in Wentzville, MO.
