Regina Hindersman Obituary

Asleep in Jesus, Regina "Reg" Hindersman passed away on May 23, 2023 at the age of 83.

Regina, known by her family and friends as “Reg”… loved and served God, her family, her country and her local community. After graduating from Concordia Teachers College in River Forest, IL, Reg began her teaching career at a Lutheran School in Suring, WI. Her next assignment would be to accept a call from Immanuel Lutheran Church in Wentzville, MO. At Immanuel she taught grades 1 and 2, she was the school’s music teacher, she became the school’s Principal, and she was also one of the church’s organists.

Reg served as Immanuel’s grade school music teacher and choir director from the time she arrived and continued for many years after she retired from full time teaching. She had an incredible love for music and teaching children. Putting these two loves together, she would produce and direct musical programs such as Christmas Cantatas and Patriotic Programs that were truly entertaining and inspirational.

As a member of Immanuel, Reg served and volunteered in many ways. To name just a few, she was a Sunday School Teacher, a Sunday School Superintendent, a Youth Group Leader, a very active member of the Sunshine Bringers and served on many committees involving Church Picnics in the summer as well as Pork Sausage Suppers in the fall.

Those who know Reg, especially those who know her well, will tell you how much they enjoyed her company. She really enjoyed just simply sitting with someone and engaging in conversation at the kitchen table over a cup of coffee. She was hard working and committed to whatever task was in front of her. She was kind and generous and always ready to help someone in need. She touched the lives of countless numbers of people, directly and indirectly.

Reg believed in God and in Jesus as her Lord and Savior. There was nothing more important to her than making sure her family knew the importance of knowing who Jesus is and to follow Him. Her family and friends love her, respect her and most certainly will never ever forget her. We all believe she has heard the Lord’s call and the words “Well done, thou good and faithful servant.”

She is survived by her two sons, Paul (Patti) Hindersman of Wildwood, MO, Steve  Hindersman of Troy, MO; three daughters, Renee (Jon) Harrison of O'Fallon, MO, Karen  Seagle of Niceville, FL, Cheryl (Jason) Tepen of St Charles, MO; grandchildren, Taylor ,Christian ,Parker,Faith, Sophia and Owen;  brother , Carl (Ellen) Handschke of Appleton, WI; two sisters, Gloria  Swanson of Harlingen, TX, Cordella (Bill) Henderson of Grand Ledge, MI;  She is preceded in death by her father, Alfred  Handschke, mother, Margaret Handschke nee Hoewisch, husband, Lindell Edwin August Hindersman, brothers, Werner Handschke, Erwin Handschke sister, Charlotte Handschke.
