Fortified with the Sacraments of Holy Mother Church, Richard Charles Kolodgie passed away peacefully at home with his family on November 2, 2020.
Beloved husband to Mary “Cissy” Kolodgie (nee Dailey) for 54 years, dearest father of Chris (Darrel) Kern of Melbourne, FL and Beth (Tim) Pinkston of Wentzville, MO, dearest grandfather of Dan Kern of Melbourne, FL, Carlie (Clint) Schulte of Wentzville, MO, Lauren Pinkston of Los Angeles, CA, and Andrew, Blake and Daileigh Pinkston of Wentzville, MO, dearest great grandfather of Brentley Schulte; dear brother-in-law, uncle, cousin and friend to many.
Rick was born in 1942 in St. Louis, Missouri to the late Otto A. and Edna S. Kolodgie. He attended St. Ann Catholic School and Christian Brothers College High School where he was a member of the Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (JROTC). Rick graduated in 1964 from St. Louis University with a degree in Business. He spent his entire career with American Airlines, retiring in 1990 as a Supervisor of Passenger Services and Operations. In retirement, Rick served as a volunteer fireman with the Wright City Fire Department.
Rick loved his Catholic faith and was a parishioner of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Melbourne, FL and St. Patrick Catholic Church in Wentzville, MO. He enjoyed fishing, golfing and his time with family and friends – especially his friends from Incline Village known as “The Winos” – even though he preferred his Diet Pepsi or Diet Dr. Pepper to wine. He moved to Melbourne, FL in 2015 and greatly enjoyed the warmer weather, time at the beach and following rocket launches from Cape Canaveral.
