Richard Philip Nelsen

Richard “Dick” Nelsen passed away at his home, the Boulevard Senior Living Facility on Tuesday, November 24, 2020 with his family present.  Richard was born March 16, 1929 in St. Louis, Missouri. 

Richard married Virginia Brinker, on November 21, 1951 at St. Stephen United Church of Christ in Baden, Missouri.  She preceded him in death on July 3, 2017.

He was preceded in death by his parents Walter Richard and Paula Concordia (Engert) Nelsen, and his brother, Donald Lewis Nelsen.

Richard is survived by his children; Vicki Nelsen and her husband, Gary McMichael of Milford, Massachusetts, Glen Nelsen and his wife, Linda of Troy, Missouri, and Valerie McFadden and her husband, Tim of Foristell, Missouri; six grandchildren, Katie Kessler and her husband, John, Steve Nelsen and his wife, Devon, Jenna Nelsen-McMichael, Ainslei Nelsen-McMichael, Connor McFadden and Bailey McFadden; four great-grandchildren, Sydney Kessler, Graham Kessler, Jack Kessler, and Carson Wischmeyer; and his sister-in-law, Diane Nelsen.

Richard was a draftsman most of his life. He worked for Alco Controls beginning in 1961. He enjoyed reading, traveling, watching TV, bowling and bar-b-queing.

A celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
