Van Haag, Roberta J. (née Crippa), fortified with the Sacraments of the Holy Mother Church, passed away peacefully on April 5, 2026, at Mother of Good Counsel Home, surrounded by her loving family and the compassionate care of the Sisters and Mission Partners.
Beloved mother of Nicole (Dwayne) Hartman of Kansas City, Missouri, and Joseph Van Haag of O’Fallon, Missouri. Cherished grandmother of Allison, Megan, and Taylor Hartman, who lovingly knew her as “Nonna.” She is also survived by nieces, nephews, and many treasured friends.
Roberta was preceded in death by her devoted husband of nearly 49 years, William “Bill” Van Haag; her parents, Anthony and Josephine Crippa (née Braga); her brothers, Richard Crippa and Gary Crippa; and her sister-in-law, Mary Crippa.
Born on October 18, 1939, Roberta found her greatest joy in her granddaughters, whom she cared for with boundless love and selflessness. She generously gave her time as a volunteer with the Mercy Associates and cherished gatherings with her Rosati-Kain lunch group. An avid reader and gifted cook, her risotto was unmatched and made with love.
Roberta’s warm smile and gentle spirit touched all who knew her. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Mother of Good Counsel Home, 6825 Natural Bridge Road, St. Louis, Missouri 63121 (www.mogch.org).
“There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens, a time to be born and a time to die, a time to plant and a time to uproot, a time to kill and a time to heal, a time to tear down and a time to build, a time to weep and a time to laugh, a time to mourn, and a time to dance….Ecclesiastes 3
The family is being served by Pitman Funeral Home in Wentzville.
