Sarah "Sally" E. (Fitzmorris) Nelson

Sarah “Sally” Ellen Nelson passed away on January 14, 2022 at the age of 82. Sally was born on March 4, 1939 in rural Wilson County, KS. She is survived by her Son, Steve Nelson and wife Wendy of Elk River, MN. Daughter Sigrid Nelson-Cooseman and husband Jimy of St. Louis, MO. Granddaughter Keely Huffman and husband Rob of O’Fallon, MO. Granddaughter, Sydney Nelson of St. Louis, MO. As well as extended family, Marcelo Birolli and Carol Wehmeyer.

Sally is preceded in death by her mother, Martha Fitzmorris, father Morton Charles Fitzmorris, sister Anne Semonisck.

Sally cherished 59 years of marriage to Bob. She was raised and grew up in rural Kansas. She later moved to the greater St. Louis area with Bob after his graduation from Kansas State University and a brief stint in California as he pursued his career at McDonnel Douglas.

Sally was a proud homemaker who took great joy in taking care of her family and others. In her spare time she enjoyed shopping, sewing, crafting, volunteering, fishing, boating and just enjoyed being outdoors. Most of all though Sally loved spending time with her family. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, January 19, 2022 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Pitman Funeral Home in Wentzville, MO.

Visitation will be held Friday, January 21, 2022 at 9:30 AM at Sacred Heart Catholic in Fredonia, KS followed by the Rosary at 10:30 AM and mass beginning at 11:00 AM. Burial to follow directly after mass at Weakley Cemetery in New Albany. Memorials have been suggested to "Help Children with School Lunches" and may be left with or mailed to the funeral home as well as contributed directly in your community.
