Shirley Ann Marshall, age 90, passed away peacefully on January 10, 2026.
Shirley was born on August 11, 1935, in Jacksonville, Illinois, to the late Jesse and Anna Estes (née Meneces).
Shirley was a devoted and active member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church. For more than 30 years, she worked in housekeeping, caring for the rectory and church offices. She sewed and mended altar cloths and vestments, worked countless fall and spring dinners and fish fries, worked before care for the school-always ready to help in any way she could. She was a proud member of St. Ann’s Sodality and enjoyed quilting with the church quilt group.
Shirley also worked at the Warrenton-Wright City Veterinary Clinic, where she ensured everything was spotless and sewed special slings for animals in need. She loved cooking, gardening, and canning during the summertime. Though she was not fond of traveling-especially flying-she made a memorable trip to England to visit her daughter Cheryl and son-in-law Jim, a journey that involved planes, trains, and buses, and one she truly enjoyed.
An enthusiastic Elvis fan, Shirley also had a deep love for cats and never turned away a stray, always making sure they were fed. In her spare time, she enjoyed embroidery and sewing-anything that kept her hands busy.
Shirley is survived by her two daughters, Cheryl (Jim) Duckett, and Lisa (Andy) Pennington; two brothers, Ed Estes and Butch Estes; her sister, Sandra (Doug) Howlett; two grandsons, Derek (Libby) Worth and Kevin (Naomi) Worth; three granddaughters, Heather (Lyndon) Ewald-Gross, Nicole Ewald, and Taylor Duckett; and eight great-grandchildren, Ezra, Rylee, Raelynn, Michael, Benjamin, Jameson, Lucas, and Kinsleigh.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Donald Marshall; and two brothers, Ray Estes and Bob Estes.
Shirley will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
