Shirley M (Paul) Rector

Shirley Margaret Rector of St. Louis passed away Thursday, November 17, 2022 at the age of 91.
She is survived by one daughter, Michelle Sliger of Kirkwood, and two grandchildren, Margaret and Caroline Sliger of Kirkwood, one brother, Ronald Paul (Judie) of St. Louis, MO; other relatives, and friends.

Shirley was born June 30, 1931 in St. Louis, MO; daughter of the late Richard Henry Paul and wife, Frances Paul (nee Vogel). She married Allen Frederick Rector August 28, 1954 and raised two daughters together. She was a secretary at Union Electric, a Bridal Registry Consultant at Dillards Galleria, and an Oasis Tutor in the Lindbergh School District.

She loved daily workouts at Club Fitness, playing tennis, gardening, reading, attending Bible Classes, hiking in the Rocky Mountains, and traveling. Above all, however, she was most proud to say that she took her granddaughters to church and Sunday School every week, starting with Little Lambs through their Confirmation.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Allen on October 23, 2016, daughter Lori Ann Murray and daughter Lynda Sue Rector.

A service to celebrate her life will take place Saturday, December 10 at 2pm at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Des Peres (12345 Manchester Road). Visitation will take place the same day at 1pm, prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be given to the St. Paul's Lutheran School-Des Peres Building Project.
