Shirley Jeane (Stewart) Sitze

Shirley Jeane Sitze, 83, of O’Fallon, Missouri, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 13, 2020 at 7:11pm, in the comfort of her home in O’Fallon, Missouri, surrounded by numerous loving family members.

The daughter of Earl A. and Bessie Mabel (Stulce) Stewart, she was born December 6, 1936 in St. Louis, Missouri. She is preceded by her two brothers, Donald Stewart and Roger Stewart.

She is survived by: two daughters, Brenda Sweeney of O’Fallon, Missouri and Dawn R. Hill of Wentzville, Missouri; two sons, Robert Sitze, Jr. of O’Fallon, Missouri and Garry E. Sitze of Dallas, Texas; eleven grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.

Shirley began work at the Monsanto plant (which eventually became MEMC) in St. Peters, Missouri in 1966, and retired in 1996 after 30 years of dedicated service to the job and work mates she loved. She chose to always work the midnight shift so she would never miss out on her children’s care and multitude of activities.

Her rich family life was not only as a mother and grandmother but also an aunt, great-aunt, and as a “mom” to many of her children’s friends. The biggest enjoyment in her life was to support and

participate in her children’s and grandchildren’s activities, whether it be chaperoning school trips, attending concerts and sporting events, float trips, pig roasts, or preparing meals for dozens of people at these or holiday gatherings.

Shirley was a beloved friend to members of her Monsanto/MEMC family as well. As a long-time usher at the St. Charles Family Arena and with the O’Fallon Rascals baseball team, she was fondly known by many as the friendly, smiling face they always looked forward to seeing.

As were her wishes, cremation rites were accorded and a Celebration of Life event will be held on November 28, 2020 from 2:00pm till 6:00pm at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 202 W 3rd St., O’Fallon, Missouri; the memorial service will start at 3:00pm.
