Sonja Morgan Obituary

Honoring the Life of

Sonja Lynn Patterson Morgan

Sunrise:  January 19, 1961   Sunset: April 5, 2020

Sonja Lynn Patterson Morgan, fifth child of the late Purvis and Ernestine Patterson,  was born on January 19, 1961 in Kansas City, Missouri. She died peacefully at her home in the loving arms of her husband and transitioned to her heavenly home on Palm Sunday, April 5, 2020. Blessed with a keen  mind and ability to envision possibilities, Sonja’s visions became her reality.

Precocious and energetic, she learned to read at the age of four and throughout her life embraced an unwavering  pursuit of knowledge. She obtained a high school diploma, attended Penn Valley Community College, and earned an Associate Degree in Pastoral  Ministry from Family Radio School. She married a loving and devoted life mate, Louis Morgan on September 9, 2002 and they settled in St. Louis, Missouri.   United in purpose and ambition, they embarked on an exciting, supportive and productive journey as husband and wife. They enjoyed traveling and taking exotic cruises.  They also established Work Master, Incorporated, a construction business, and Sonja served as administrative assistant. When she became a licensed breeder of Siberian Huskies, Louis provided the daily care of the dogs and puppies.  Shortly before the onset of her illness, Sonja with Louis’ faithful support, became an independent Jewelry and Accessories Consultant. As expected, that same entrepreneur spirit prevailed as she launched this new enterprise.

Sonja attended St. Monica’s Catholic Church, loved the Lord, and diligently studied His word.  She was generous to her family, lavished lovely and thoughtful gifts during the Christmas season and birthdays.  She cared about the welfare of others and gladly lent a helping hand to those in need. Her tastefully decorated home reflected her love for God, family, art, menagerie of animals- dogs, cats, and birds- and her ability to grow large, thriving plants.

While her family mourns her quick passing, we are comforted in knowing she is home with our Savior and Lord!  We celebrate her victory and forever cherish her smile, laughter, and strength. Besides her loving husband, Louis, she is survived by three sisters:  Betty Jean Patterson Shadrick (Henry), Albany, NY; Dianne Yvonne Dowell and Tamara Alisa Patterson from Kansas City, Mo.  She is also missed by her sister-in-laws: Kathi Patterson, Marilyn Scott, Barbara Woodson, Vanessa Coleman, Edith(Lester) Aulton,  Mary Young and a host nieces, nephews, grand nieces, grand nephews, cousins, and friends. Her two brothers, Purvis (Buck) Patterson, Jr., Robert Patterson, 111 and phenomenal parents, Purvis and Ernestine Patterson, preceded her in death.
