Stephen “Steve” Michael Kusmitch, Sr., 60, of Wentzville. MO, passed away on Monday, October 23rd, 2023, at his home.
Steve was born on November 21st, 1962, in Milwaukee, WI, the son of the late Chester and Kathleen (DeClark) Kusmitch. He graduated from Forest Park in Crystal Falls, MI, and proudly served in the United States Air Force as a Staff Sergeant, from 1985 until his honorable discharge in 1996. Steve was raised with a deep Catholic faith that shaped his life and values.
As a dedicated family man, Steve was the cornerstone of his family; his presence in their lives was a constant source of strength, support, and laughter. He was not only a devoted loving, husband, and father, but also a remarkable grandfather. He cherished every moment spent with his granddaughter, and he was incredibly proud to be her papa.
Steve had a profound love for the great outdoors, where he found peace in the beauty of nature. His heart was truly at home when he was trout fishing or deer hunting. His love for wildlife was passed down to his children, a bond that will continue through the generations.
Steve will be remembered as a man of immense love, laughter, and an unwavering commitment to his family (and the Green Bay Packers). He leaves a void that can never be filled, but his legacy of love and devotion will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to share in his life.
Survivors include his loving wife of 29 years, Jeanette Kusmitch, Wentzville, MO; four children Stephen (Lindsa) Kusmitch Jr., Las Vegas, NV, Allison Kusmitch, St. Louis, MO, Madeleine Kusmitch, Wentzville, MO, and Annie Kusmitch, Wentzville, MO; grandchild Heidi; two brothers Dale (Angie) Kusmitch and Paul (Diane) Kusmitch; seven special nieces and nephews; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Steve’s funeral will be held on Thursday, November 2nd, 2023, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 405 S Church St, Wentzville, MO 63385. A memorial will be held starting at 10:00 a.m., with mass and visitation to follow.
