Terry Files Obituary
Terry Files of O' Fallon, Missouri, passed away on June 19, 2026, at the age of 76. He is survived by his beloved wife, Cheryl Files (née: Jackson) of O' Fallon, Missouri; two daughters, Angie (Randy) Ridenhour, and Teri (John) Dickey; grandchildren, Nick (Emily) Ridenhour, Ashlyn Dickey, Erica (Stephen) Colley, and Emily (Tannor) Horn; great grandchildren, Dex and Emerson Ridenhour, and soon-to-arrive baby girl Colley; brother, Jim (Meg) Files; brother-in-law, Mike Jackson; and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father, James Files, mother, Dorothy Files (née: Atteberry), sister, Kimberly Jo Files, sister, Pat Radford, grandparents, Oscar and Martha Files, and William and Nellie Atteberry.
Terry was a best friend and devoted husband to Cheryl for nearly 56 years. From this union they were blessed with two daughters, Angie and Teri Jean. They were fortunate to have raised their family in Southern Illinois in a small, peaceful farming community near Fairfield, Il. Terry worked as a supervisor in manufacturing in Fairfield for nearly 25 years where his work ethic and caring nature for the employees was admired by many. Having grown up in the small town of Barnhill and living the majority of his life there, he was well known in the community, often lending a hand to a neighbor in need. He and Cheryl moved to Arnold, MO in 2004 to be closer to their daughters and grandchildren. While living in Arnold, Terry became an active member of New Hope United Methodist Church. He enjoyed church trivia nights, playing on the church golf and bowling teams and serving at various fellowship activities. Golfing, watching Nascar and cheering on the Cardinals were among his favorite past-times, but spending time with family brought him the most joy. He had a passion for living life surrounded by those he dearly loved. Holidays, family vacations, and other special events were what he cherished the most in life.
Terry never met a stranger, always making sure that everyone was greeted with an energetic hello, ensuring that all were welcomed. His contagious laugh was a gift that filled the room with joy and a welcoming spirit. His warmth and genuine personality shined brightly for others to notice, even when first meeting him. He practiced selflessness daily, always putting others before himself. Terry will be remembered as a man of honor, dignity, integrity and love. His kind heart, generous spirit and devotion to his family will be deeply missed.
