Walter J. Reel passed away on January 9, 2021 at the age of 83 years.
Walter was born on November 28, 1937 in St. Louis, Missouri; son of Walter C. and Loretta Ann Reel, nee Fisher.
Walt graduated from McBride High School in 1955. Walter served his country in the Air National Guard from 1955-1961. In 1959, he was united in marriage to Mary Ann Hathaway and four children were born to this union. While they were raising their family, Walter and Mary Ann would take their family to Tea Lakes near Rosebud, Missouri. where they enjoyed camping, fishing, and spending fun family time. Mary Ann preceded him in death in 1995. In 1996, Walter married Jean Weinreis and she preceded him in death in 2020.
Walter was a long-time parishioner of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in New Melle, MO. He worked for several years as a diesel mechanic and in recent years drove for the Wentzville School District.
He is preceded in death by his father, Walter C. Reel, mother, Loretta Ann Reel, wife, Mary Ann Reel, wife, Jean Weinreis Reel, brother, Robert Reel, and step-son, Brian Weinreis.
He is survived by his three sons, Michael (Cathy) Reel, Danny (Mary) Reel, Kenneth (Judy) Reel; daughter Susanne Roethler; two step-sons, Joe (Linda) Weinreis, Gene (Nancy) Weinreis; step-daughter, Kim (Keith) Dickherber; two sisters, Virginia (Joseph-deceased) Christopher and Kathleen (William) Scego; brother, Stephen (Tricia) Reel; sister-in-law, Carolyn Reel; six grandsons, Curtis (Shannan) Reel, Timothy Reel, Eric Roethler, Kenneth Reel, Jr., Joshua (Katie) Reel, Jacob Reel; four granddaughters, Brittney (Chris) Donovan, Danielle (Alex) Alsup, Nichole (Jake) York, and Meghan Reel; nine step-grandsons, Brian (Jessica) Weinreis, Christopher Weinreis, Jesse Weinreis, Matthew (Colleen) Dickherber, Kevin, Alex, Kyle, and Bradley Dickherber, and Alec Weinreis; four step-granddaughters, Lauren (Bryce) Page, Kayla Weinreis, Aliana (Josh) Stewart, Danielle Weinreis; 8 great-grandchildren, 12 step great-grandchildren. He was a loving family man and dear dad, grandpa, great-grandpa, brother, uncle, and friend. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
