Van Haag, William R., fortified with the Sacraments of the Holy Mother Church, passed away peacefully on June 7, 2020 at his home surrounded by his family.
William is survived by his beloved wife of almost forty-nine years, Roberta Van Haag (nee Crippa) of Lake St. Louis, Missouri. Dear Father of Nicole (Dwayne) Hartman of O’Fallon, Missouri and Joseph Van Haag of Lake St. Louis, Missouri. Cherished grandfather of three granddaughters, who are his greatest legacy, Allison, Megan and Taylor Hartman. Dear brother of Thomas (Germaine) Van Haag of Waukesha, Wisconsin and brother-in-law of Richard Crippa of Florissant, Missouri and Anthony (Connie) Crippa of O’Fallon, Missouri. William also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
William is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Sophia (nee Jelinski) Van Haag; one brother, Robert Van Haag; and sister-in-law, Mary Crippa.
William was born on February 20, 1932 and spent his entire career in education. He had a passion for math, baseball, hockey, horse racing and the stock market. In retirement, he enjoyed living on the lake and spending time on the golf course at the Community Association of Lake St. Louis. He never lost his passion for teaching and continued to share that gift with his granddaughters.
He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
